Svebor is an amateur organization that belongs both to sport
and culture. Unlike marshal arts, the arts of fighting is
beyond an ordinary fight because it primarily implies the
fight a person has with him/herself, which is one of the
first Christian rules. We also consider the sincere, true prayer to be the ultimate act of fighting. We also insist on injury-free and non-violent relationships and activities within the sports part of svebor. What we especially insist on is creativity in all aspects, including fighting adjustment to individual abilities, personal talent and capabilities. In short, the sports part is based on the classical European gymnastics and athletics, originating in the Balkans, traditional ethnic competitions, free style wrestling and boxing. |
Floor exercise has priority, and as far as athletic
disciplines are concerned, we mostly practice all types of
jumps, running with the change of rhythm and direction,
throwing stones, sticks and knives at the moving target. We
practice multiple partner fight performed while running,
fist fighting and free style wrestling with the use of
authentic and original Serbian moves and fighting
techniques. Our most significant competition is in an extreme sport which is at the same time a religious act and a part of Serbian national tradition - Epiphany swimming for the Cross. The competition is held on January 19th every year, often through the broken ice, in many rivers and lakes across Serbia and other countries. This is the shortest story of Svebor. |
